Past and present meet in Bernhard Lang (external link)’s The Cold Trip. Using Franz Schubert’s great Romantic cycle of songs Winterreise as a basis, Lang, one of the most important Austrian composers of our time, creates a large-scale composition in two parts, in which he overwrites sections and structures of the Schubert lieder using looping, cutting and sampling techniques.

With Juliet Fraser, and part one performed by Sarah Maria Sun and the Aleph Gitarrenquartett.
